Talented hairdressers from across the Midlands will compete in a competition held at a Warwickshire college’s salon to get the chance to represent the region on the national stage.
Royal Leamington Spa College, which is part of college group WCG, is set to host the WorldSkills UK Regional Final on Tuesday, June 6.
The college will welcome 18 competitors and judges from WorldSkills UK as its salon is the backdrop for the major regional event.
The commercial salon on the ground floor of the college is a showpiece area open to the public and features a large hair salon with nail bars and a retail area for professional products, and will be the venue for the competition.
Royal Leamington Spa College also has two large beauty salons and an express treatments area for nails, makeup, eyebrows, blow-drys and barbering.
Competitors will travel to the college from across the region, with staff from the college also supporting on the delivery of the event.
The winners on the day will go on to compete in the WorldSkills UK National Finals to get the chance to represent the country internationally.
Amanda Green, Head of Department for Hair & Beauty at Royal Leamington Spa College, said: “It’s an honour for us to have the chance to host this competition and provide the backdrop for what should be a day of incredible competition.
“Our showcase salon is ideal for competition work and provides a professional-quality setting for the competitors to carry out their tasks.
“This is an inspirational event and we hope to have students in the competition in the years to come. As a college group we are very supportive of WorldSkills competitions and recognise the huge benefits they can bring to the development of students.
“We’re excited to be a part of this and wish all of the competitors the very best for the competition.”
